When delivering a class I combine evidence-based exercise prescription with hands-on knowledge from years of experience as myotherapist in rehabilitation.

The MAT it is a Measuring Assessment Tool that allows Giovanni to evaluate and keep track of your achievement for mobility and stability and more.

Indeed, through out the MAT there are plenty of testing that can be done, to see how your presentation is evolving.

And given everyone unique biomechanics and clinical history, there are not set number to achieve, but average that we expect to get to.

Fitness Class and Kinetic Link Training (KLT)

Along the classic training protocols, such as weights lifting and the usage of column machine for upper or lower body work out, or a bench tool, what I got to integrates in your Fitness Class training are the principles of Kinetic Link Training (KLT).

Indeed, KLT it’s part of my one-to-one Fitness Classes offer, here in Fitzroy North, and is a form of functional training designed to help you improve movement efficiency, strength, and body coordination all at once.

What is the basic difference between KLT and otehr form of training, is that KLT focuses on movement patterns that combined upper and lower body at all the time.

This is possible by taking upper body movement like:

      • Pull
      • Push
      • Arch Movement

and combining it with lower body movement like:

      • Double/Single Leg Squat
      • Lunges
      • Jumps

through out different direction of lower body movement:

Anterior lunge or posterior lunge, or side split squat

and different direction for upper body movement:

A pull from low to high, or a push from mid to mid height.

Now, can you quickly image how many combination of exercises comes out from this.

Furthermore, what it’s handy, is the way the exercises is called. In fact, a KLT exercises name is the actual exercises description, as shown in those photos. The exercises name it is going to tell you exactly what upper and lower body movement you are expected to do, and what direction your body is positioned regarding the machine or bend used.

So, KLT is especially beneficial for rehabilitation protocols (once the acute phase is passed), but also improving everyday movement mechanics.

Giovanni's Qualification

Giovanni started working in the health industry in 2016, and in August 2024, he obtained a Bachelor’s in Health Science, Clinical Myotherapy, at Torrens University.

Giovanni trained there and learned how to manage a one-on-one fitness class based on the patient’s needs.

Giovanni has been working in the massage industry, seeing patients and teaching exercises since 2019.

A: At Melbourne Massage and Treatment, Fitness Class is a one-on-one, personalised exercise session designed to improve strength, mobility, posture, endurance, and functional movement. Each session is tailored to your goals, physical needs, and current fitness level.

A: Anyone can undertake a fitness class journey. They are ideal whether you are new to exercise, returning after an injury, managing ongoing pain, or looking to improve movement quality and performance.

A: As this is a one-to-one class, and is supervised by a qualified Clinical Myotherapist, yes, it is different from a group class run at a gym by a PT. Indeed, exercises are selected based on movement assessments, injury history, and functional goals, ensuring safe and effective training.

A: Each class focuses on where you are with your goal achievement. If the goal is general strength and endurance, we will establish a good level of mobility and stability, to start with, while we work on your strength, posture, and functional movement. Training may also include balance, coordination, and progressive exercises that support daily activities and long-term physical health.

A: Yes. The Fitness Classes are suitable for people recovering from injuries or managing recurring aches and pains. Exercises are chosen to support rehabilitation, improve movement control, and reduce the risk of future injuries. Hands-on Myotherapy may be recommended alongside exercise when appropriate.

A: The initial consultation includes a detailed clinical history, mobility and movement assessment, goal setting, and the introduction of your first tailored exercises. This helps create a safe and structured exercise plan moving forward.

A: The MAT Aid (Measuring Assessment Tool) is used to track progress by assessing mobility, stability, motor control, and functional movement. It allows progress to be monitored and exercises to be adjusted over time.

A: Results vary depending on your goals and condition. Some improvements in movement and coordination can already occur within one class. But when looking at improving general strength and fitness level, we are looking at the 3 to 6 months mark, where you will be working (including the Fitness Class with me) 3 days a week on hitting weights.

A: The Fitness Classes are held at Melbourne Massage and Treatment, located at 1/175 Holden Street, Fitzroy North, VIC 3068. The clinic is easily accessible by tram, bus, and train.

A: No. You do not need any prior fitness experience. Exercises are adapted to your current ability, and progression is gradual to ensure confidence, safety, and sustainable improvement.

Temporary Service Pause Notice (June 2026)


Abdominal surgery recovery

On Monday, 1st June 2026, I was called in for last-minute abdominal surgery. I have been advised to rest from strenuous activity for the next few weeks.

As a result, I will be temporarily pausing services including Remedial Massage, Myotherapy, Fitness Classes, and Thai Massage for a minimum of 2 weeks, with a tentative return date of 15/06/2026 (subject to recovery).

Clients with existing bookings will be contacted privately to reschedule their appointments.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) services will continue, as they are gentle and non-strenuous.

If you require treatment during this time, please feel free to contact me, and I can refer you to a trusted colleague.

Online booking for the above services is temporarily suspended and will be reactivated once I am able to safely resume normal activity.
