Why load the body with weight when doing exercise?
Let’s step back for an instant, back to when you were a baby, to understand how you became capable of standing up on your legs and walking. We have no memory of those days, but we all know that a baby would take a couple of years to stand up and start walking. Before that stage, they would spend their days learning how to roll, then cowling, and then attempting an erected standing position. As you may understand by now, this breakdown is a step-by-step approach to getting used to the gravity force applied to the human body weight, which was not experienced in the womb. In fact, that gravity force applied to the human body allows the bond to get firmer, the muscles to get stronger and gives them the ability to stand up. Now, apply this principle to an adult body that starts degenerating by losing muscle mass or bone mass as it stops growing (early 20s). To stop and reverse this degenerative process, we have to load our body with weight, stimulating mechanic-transduction activity that leads to soft and hard tissue being regenerated.
How long before I can get better after an injury?
Time is a crucial factor for seeing some improvement in an exercise program.
Scientific studies have shown that it typically takes 6 to 8 weeks to improve body strength and rehabilitate an injury. This is based on an exercise program that is applied a minimum of 3 days a week and no more than 5 days a week.
This estimation is based on injuries that do not involve surgery or immobilization (e.g., a bone fracture).
How do we keep track of the progress?
Rehabilitating an injury or developing your range of motion, mobility, and strength takes time; it is a process that can be quantified with numbers, and personal confidence in mastering new steps.
Along his training, Giovanni for Melbourne Massage and Treatment, did learn the use of “The MAT™” – Movement Assessment Tool.
The MAT™ is just what you need to monitor improvement in your movements during sessions. Because of its unique design, it can carry out any sort of test a Myotherapy needs and help point out the area that needs further strength and treatment.
With this, Giovanni will be able to utilize a muscle strength scale, ‘The MAT Muscle Meter ™’ to monitor such clients’ strength into sports activities or competitions.
