Are you looking for a good Myotherapy treatment? Look no further, Melbourne Massage & Treatment have you covered.
What is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy is one of the core services at Melbourne Massage and Treatment, used to treat or prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement.
Melbourne Massage and Treatment offers Myotherapy services that aim to improve your well-being by reducing aches and pains as well as enhancing your understanding of your body presentation.
In your myotherapy session, Giovanni will guide you through specific active, passive, and resisted movements allowing for a targeted and personalised treatment plan that suits your needs.
What to Expect from Myotherapy Treatment
- Effective Treatment & Benefits: Myotherapy is effective for conditions like trigger points and nerve entrapment due to muscle tension. After a session, you can expect increased relaxation, improved range of motion, and lighter, looser joints.
- Consistency: Myotherapy treatment requires consistency—typically 3 to 5 sessions—to address pain caused by imbalances along the joint chain. That said, the last sessions are more exercises based focus and and are shorter in duration.
- Supportive Care: Corrective exercises are often prescribed during treatment and should be practiced at home to support recovery from conditions such as Sciatica, Carpal Tunnel, Tendinitis, Plantar Fasciitis, and Headaches.
What’s The Difference Between Remedial Massage and Myotherapy?
Here is a short list of the major differences between Remedial Massage and Myotherapy:
- Focus & Assessment: Myotherapy places greater emphasis on joint mobility and myofascial restrictions, while remedial techniques typically center on muscle tension and pain relief.
- Techniques Used: Myotherapy incorporates methods like Dry Needling, which creates micro-tears in muscle tissue to trigger an immune response and improve muscle tone—beyond the standard manual approaches.
- Joint Mobility Emphasis: It specifically addresses the range of motion of joints, both active and passive, aiming for functional improvement, whereas traditional massage may not go as in-depth in this area.
What Does a Myotherapy Session Look Like?
At Melbourne Massage and Treatment, Giovanni delivers tailored Myotherapy treatment to help you achieve your goal and feel better.
This process unpacks via:
- Range of Motion (ROM) and Orthopedic Assessment: Each Myotherapy session includes a guided ROM evaluation and orthopedic test before and after treatment to assess body condition and track progress.
- Your Feedback Is Key: You may feel pain or discomfort during the assesment and along the session — it’s important to let Giovanni knows about it, as it would help to identify the affected structurs, like muscles, tendon or joints.
- Tailored Treatment Plan: After evaluating ROM and muscle balance, Giovanni will create a personalized treatment plan to support your recovery journey
- Session Setup & Comfort: During the treatment you’ll lie in various positions (prone, supine, or side-lying) and undress to underwear and bra, but rest assured — only the area being treated will be exposed, and towels will keep you covered at all times.
- What to Wear: Arrive in comfortable attire to make changing and movement during the assesment session easier.

The Benefits Of Myotherapy

Testimonials
Great mix of modalities that really helped with my final stages of frozen shoulders to return my range of movement.

Giovanni is a skilled myotherapist who deeply cares for his clients well being. Upon arriving at the location, he greeted me with a warm welcome and was very accomodating by offering water. I came only for a lympathic drainage massage but had unexpectedly came out with greater self awareness of my body. He took the time to share his knowledge of the human anatomy, in particularly, the internal dysfunctions and physical limitations encompassing the body. I’ve come back for a few myotherapy and dry needling sessions and always leave his practice satisfied with the level of care provided. He tailors his treatments to your needs and prefers realistic and holistic approaches for recovery.

Giovanni is incredibly good at what he does. He has an amazing technique, is very knowledgeable and is great at explaining what the problems are and how to go about rectifying them. My back hasn’t felt this good in years and I’m only a reasonably new client!
I recommend him 100%
