What Therapies Are Complementary To Myotherapy Treatment?

Myotherapy includes a series of techniques that can be combined to achieve the desired goal.

The Benefits Of Myotherapy

As this practice is still new, finding complete scientific-based evidence of Myotherapy benefits can be tricky. That said, as Myotherapy is a mix of hands-on treatment and exercise rehabilitation practice, it would be easier to break down its benefits by talking about what Myotherapy can help with:

Additional Benefits

• Increases mobility • Helps the recovery of soft tissue injuries • Improves/corrects postural issues • Reduces muscle tension • Reduces chronic pain symptoms • Helps with sleep • Balances blood pressure • Improves concentration.

Why Choose Myotherapy in Fitzroy North?

Evidence-Based Treatment for Long-Term Results

At Melbourne Massage and Treatment in Fitzroy North, when I deliver a Myotherapy treatment I don’t focus only on temporary pain relief, but I investigate for the root cause of your discomfort and creating a treatment plan that supports long-term recovery which would leave you in a place of resilience and well-being. I combines hands-on therapy with movement assessment and corrective exercises to help restore proper body function and improve your overall quality of life, and this is because Myotherapy is not only about massage.

Indeed, what I got to experience from my end, is meeting many people experiencing ongoing pain that often rely on passive treatments alone, but clinical research continues to show that combining manual therapy with guided movement and rehabilitation exercises can lead to better and long lasting outcomes. And this approach, no matter what, can you dealing with chronic neck stiffness, recurring lower back pain, postural tension from desk work, or sports-related discomfort. Infact, myotherapy treatment can help reduce symptoms while improving strength, mobility, and body awareness.

Furthermore, at my clinic here in Fitzroy North, every treatment is tailored to your unique presentation. I put effort in finding exercises that works for you, and for your unique biomechanics, because no two bodies move the same way. This is possible by carefully assessing your posture, joint mobility, movement patterns, and muscular imbalances before beginning treatment. And again, is not my hands that are going to do any magic trick, to sort out your pain and problems, but is the combination of hands on treatment per relaxation purpose and the body load with weight that is going to do the trick, and put you back on track for a better time.

Myotherapy and Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) – Symbyx Biome 904

My effort to give the best of result via Myotherapy treatment here at my clinic in Fitzroy North, brought me to investigate and invest in Lower Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) also known as Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBM).

Here at my clinic, I can deliver LLLT therapy with a Symbyx Biome 904, an excellent laser pan, that can deliver “cold laser therapy,” using specific wavelengths of light to support

      • Tissue repair,
      • Reduce inflammation,
      • Help manage pain without generating heat or damaging tissue.

The presentations that I would target with LLLT are:

      • tendinopathy,
      • muscle strains,
      • joint irritation,
      • nerve sensitivity,
      • persistent inflammatory conditions,
      • scar therapy
      • and more…

But as for all the forms of external therapy, LLLT on its own is not enough to recover from those types of injury; therefore, when receiving this therapy from me, expect to get given also exercises, which together with LLLT would get you back to shape and full strength.

How Does LLLT Work And How Often Should I Do It?

Laser therapy may help improve recovery outcomes by supporting circulation, cellular energy production (ATP), and tissue healing processes. Treatment is completely non-invasive, painless, and usually takes only a few minutes during your session, depending on the location and severity of the presentation.

The frequency of the treatment is also what would make a difference. For best results, LLLT must be used every 2nd or 3rd day for the first week or two of treatment, then space out treatment to once a week or every fourth night.

FAQ About Myotherapy in Fitzroy North

Some Myotherapy techniques can feel intense and can reproduce pain, especially when working on muscles, but the pain response you experience should always be manageable. Indeed, during the treatment, I will always double check with you where your level of pain is, as if needed, I will reduce pressure to decrease the pain response.

The number of Myotherapy sessions varies depending on your condition, lifestyle, and goals. Always consider that initially, you may need to come for a Myotherapy session once or twice a week for either acute or chronic conditions. This is to ensure we are creating a safe space for your body and nervous system to work with. Once you get some autonomy with your exercises, we can leave even 3 weeks between a session and the next one.

No referral is required to book a Myotherapy appointment. You can contact me or book an appointment as needed via the Melbourne Massage and Treatment website.

Absolutely yes. Myotherapy is commonly used to assist with sports injuries, muscle strains, mobility restrictions, and recovery after physical activity. The treatment modalities include soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, dry needling, LLLT, and corrective exercises to support rehabilitation.

Yes, Dry Needling is offered as a treatment option along Myotherapy treatment. That said, it is not mandatory to received Dry Needling, and it is not  always the first choice of mine too. Dry needling is ideal for sore muscle, or other specific condition. Therefore, before using Dry Needling, we will always look into what option are best for you presentation, and what you feel conformable with.

Let's start saying that Myotherapy and Physiotherapy, especially Clinical Myotherapy, are both professions aim to improve movement and reduce pain. Myotherapy may focus more (initially) on soft tissue treatment, including massage and joint mobilisation. Physiotherapy often places greater emphasis on injury diagnosis, neurological rehabilitation, and broader physical therapy approaches.

Yes, Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), is considered a safe and non-invasive treatment. The Symbyx Biome 904 which is the laser I use here at Melbourne Massage and Treatment does not generate heat or burn the skin. Most clients feel little to no sensation during treatment, while they may experience more mobility and movement post treatment (this happen most often with scar therapy). LLLT is commonly used to support recovery from tendon injuries, muscle strains, inflammation, nerve irritation, and scar tissue, especially when combined with Myotherapy treatment and exercise rehabilitation for longer-term results.

The duration of a Myotherapy session depends on your presentation and treatment goals. Initial consultations are generally 60 minutes, while follow-up appointments may be 45 or 30 minutes.
